12 While I was with them, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest to me, I kept, and none of them perished, but the son of perdition, that the scripture be fulfilled.
13 But now I come to thee, and I speak these things in the world [and these things I speak in the world], that they have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I gave to them thy word, and the world had them in hate; for they be not of the world, as I am not of the world.

12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[a] that name you gave me. None has been lost(A) except the one doomed to destruction(B) so that Scripture would be fulfilled.(C)
13 “I am coming to you now,(D) but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy(E) within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them,(F) for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.(G)
