27 Once more Peter denied it, and right then a rooster crowed.
Jesus Is Tried by Pilate

28 It was early in the morning when Jesus was taken from Caiaphas to the building where the Roman governor stayed. But the crowd waited outside. Any of them who had gone inside would have become unclean and would not be allowed to eat the Passover meal.[a]
29 Pilate came out and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”

27 Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.(A)

28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor.(C) By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace,(D) because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.(E) 29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”
