27 And again Peter denied it. And immediately the cock crew.
Jesus is taken before the Roman authority
28 Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas’ presence into the palace. It was now early morning and the Jews themselves did not go into the palace, for fear that they would be contaminated and would not be able to eat the Passover.
29 So Pilate walked out to them and said, “What is the charge that you are bringing against this man?”

27 Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.(A)

28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor.(C) By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace,(D) because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.(E) 29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”
