John 19:30-32
Darby Translation
30 When therefore Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished; and having bowed his head, he delivered up his spirit.
31 The Jews therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for it was [the] preparation, (for the day of that sabbath was a great [day],) demanded of Pilate that their legs might be broken and they taken away.
32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first and of the other that had been crucified with him;

New International Version
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”(A) With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
31 Now it was the day of Preparation,(B) and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses(C) during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.(D)
