Pilate Sentences Jesus to Death
6 When the chief priests and the temple servants[a] saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
Pilate responded, “Take him and crucify him yourselves, since I find no grounds for charging him.”
7 “We have a law,” the Jews replied to him, “and according to that law he ought to die,(A) because he made himself the Son of God.”(B)
8 When Pilate heard this statement, he was more afraid than ever.

6 As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.(A) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”(B)
7 The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,(C) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”(D)
8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,
