6 When the leaders of the priests and their officers saw Jesus, they shouted, ‘Kill him! Kill him on a cross!’ Pilate said to them, ‘Take him for yourselves and kill him on a cross. I can find no reason why I should punish him.’ 7 The Jews answered, ‘We have a law which says that he must die. He must die because he said, “I am the Son of God.” ’
8 When Pilate heard that, he was even more afraid.

6 As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.(A) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”(B)
7 The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,(C) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”(D)
8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,
