17 Jesus *said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to (A)My brothers and say to them, ‘I am (B)ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.’”

17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers(A) and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father(B) and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

11 For both He who (A)sanctifies and those who (B)are [a]sanctified are all (C)from one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them (D)brothers and sisters, 12 saying,

(E)I will proclaim Your name to My brothers,
In the midst of the assembly I will sing Your praise.”

13 And again,

(F)I will put My trust in Him.”

And again,

(G)Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”

14 Therefore, since the children share in [b](H)flesh and blood, (I)He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that (J)through death He might destroy (K)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and free those who through (L)fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. 16 For clearly He does not [c]give help to angels, but He gives help to the [d]descendants of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He [e]had (M)to be made like His brothers so that He might (N)become a merciful and faithful (O)high priest in (P)things pertaining to God, to (Q)make [f]propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For since He Himself was [g](R)tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are [h]tempted.

11 Both the one who makes people holy(A) and those who are made holy(B) are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[a](C) 12 He says,

“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
    in the assembly I will sing your praises.”[b](D)

13 And again,

“I will put my trust in him.”[c](E)

And again he says,

“Here am I, and the children God has given me.”[d](F)

14 Since the children have flesh and blood,(G) he too shared in their humanity(H) so that by his death he might break the power(I) of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil(J) 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear(K) of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.(L) 17 For this reason he had to be made like them,[e](M) fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful(N) and faithful high priest(O) in service to God,(P) and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.(Q) 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.(R)
