²⁴This is the disciple who testifies to these things^(A) and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.^(B)

⁷Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace and the snare of the devil.^(A)

⁷He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,^(A) so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.^(B)
