¹⁵ so that whoever ^[a]believes will ^(A)in Him have eternal life.

¹⁶ “For God so ^(B)loved the world, that He ^(C)gave His ^[b](D)only begotten Son, that whoever ^(E)believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God ^(F)did not send the Son into the world ^(G)to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. ^18 (H)He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of ^(I)the ^[c]only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ This is the judgment, that ^(J)the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for ^(K)their deeds were evil. ^20 (L)For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. ²¹ But he who ^(M)practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

John’s Last Testimony

²² After these things Jesus and His ^(N)disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He was spending time with them and ^(O)baptizing. ²³ John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there; and people were coming and were being baptized— ²⁴ for ^(P)John had not yet been thrown into prison.

²⁵ Therefore there arose a discussion on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about ^(Q)purification. ²⁶ And they came to John and said to him, “^(R)Rabbi, He who was with you ^(S)beyond the Jordan, to whom you ^(T)have testified, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him.” ²⁷ John answered and said, “^(U)A man can receive nothing unless it ^(V)has been given him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves ^[d]are my witnesses that I said, ‘^(W)I am not the ^[e]Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ ²⁹ He who has the bride is ^(X)the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this ^(Y)joy of mine has been made full. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease.

³¹ “^(Z)He who comes from above is above all, ^(AA)he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. ^(AB)He who comes from heaven is above all. ³² What He has seen and heard, of that He ^(AC)testifies; and ^(AD)no one receives His testimony. ³³ He who has received His testimony ^(AE)has set his seal to this, that God is true. ³⁴ For He whom God has ^(AF)sent speaks the words of God; ^[f](AG)for He gives the Spirit without measure. ^35 (AH)The Father loves the Son and ^(AI)has given all things into His hand. ³⁶ He who ^(AJ)believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who ^(AK)does not ^[g]obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him ^(A)shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to ^(B)eternal life.”

⁴⁰ For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who ^(A)beholds the Son and ^(B)believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will ^(C)raise him up on the last day.”

⁴⁷ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes ^(A)has eternal life.

⁵⁴ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will ^(A)raise him up on the last day.

²⁸ and I give ^(A)eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and ^(B)no one will snatch them out of My hand.

² even as ^(A)You gave Him authority over all flesh, that ^(B)to ^[a]all whom You have given Him, ^(C)He may give eternal life. ³ This is eternal life, that they may know You, ^(D)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom ^(E)You have sent. ^4 (F)I glorified You on the earth, ^[b](G)having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. ⁵ Now, Father, ^(H)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had ^(I)with You before the world was.

⁶ “^(J)I have manifested Your name to the men whom ^(K)You gave Me out of the world; they were ^(L)Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have ^(M)kept Your word. ⁷ Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; ⁸ for ^(N)the words which You gave Me ^(O)I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that ^(P)I came forth from You, and they believed that ^(Q)You sent Me. ^9 (R)I ask on their behalf; ^(S)I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom ^(T)You have given Me; for ^(U)they are Yours; ¹⁰ and ^(V)all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. ¹¹ I am no longer in the world; and yet ^(W)they themselves are in the world, and ^(X)I come to You. ^(Y)Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name ^(Z)which You have given Me, that ^(AA)they may be one even as We are. ¹² While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name ^(AB)which You have given Me; and I guarded them and ^(AC)not one of them perished but ^(AD)the ^[c]son of perdition, so that the ^(AE)Scripture would be fulfilled.

The Disciples in the World

¹³ But now ^(AF)I come to You; and ^(AG)these things I speak in the world so that they may have My ^(AH)joy made full in themselves. ¹⁴ I have given them Your word; and ^(AI)the world has hated them, because ^(AJ)they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them ^[d]from ^[e](AK)the evil one. ^16 (AL)They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ^17 (AM)Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. ¹⁸ As ^(AN)You sent Me into the world, ^(AO)I also have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ For their sakes I ^(AP)sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be ^(AQ)sanctified ^(AR)in truth.

²⁰ “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; ²¹ that they may all be one; ^(AS)even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, ^(AT)so that the world may ^[f]believe that ^(AU)You sent Me.

Their Future Glory

²² The ^(AV)glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; ^23 (AW)I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected ^[g]in unity, so that the world may ^[h]know that ^(AX)You sent Me, and ^(AY)loved them, even as You have loved Me. ²⁴ Father, I desire that ^(AZ)they also, whom You have given Me, ^(BA)be with Me where I am, so that they may see My ^(BB)glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before ^(BC)the foundation of the world.

²⁵ “O ^(BD)righteous Father, ^[i]although ^(BE)the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that ^(BF)You sent Me; ²⁶ and ^(BG)I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that ^(BH)the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
