2 He came to Jesus at night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing unless God is with him.”(A) 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born[a] from above.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a person once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?”(B)

New International Version
2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi,(A) we know(B) that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs(C) you are doing if God were not with him.”(D)
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”(E)
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
