John 4:47-49
New English Translation
47 When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him[a] to come down and heal his son, who was about to die. 48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people[b] see signs and wonders you will never believe!”[c] 49 “Sir,” the official said to him, “come down before my child dies.”

- John 4:48 tn The word “people” is not in the Greek text, but is supplied to indicate that the verb is second person plural (referring to more than the royal official alone).
- John 4:48 tn Or “you never believe.” The verb πιστεύσητε (pisteusēte) is aorist subjunctive and may have either nuance.

New International Version
47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,(A) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”(B) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
