New Matthew Bible
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole. 16 And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought means to slay him, because he had done these things on the Sabbath day.
17 And Jesus told them, My Father works until now, and I work.

15 The man went away and told the Jewish leaders(A) that it was Jesus who had made him well.
The Authority of the Son
16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father(B) is always at his work(C) to this very day, and I too am working.”
