38 And you do not have his word remaining in you, because you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them. They testify about me! 40 And yet you do not want to come to me in order to have life.

38 nor does his word dwell in you,(A) for you do not believe(B) the one he sent.(C) 39 You study[a] the Scriptures(D) diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life.(E) These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,(F) 40 yet you refuse to come to me(G) to have life.
