³⁵ “I am^(A) the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me^(B) will ever be hungry,^(C) and no one who believes in me^(D) will ever be thirsty^(E) again.

The Promise of the Spirit

³⁷ On the last and most important day of the festival,^(A) Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me^[a](B) and drink.^(C)

¹¹ Up to the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty; we are poorly clothed, roughly treated, homeless;

⁶ Then he said to me, “It is done!^(A) I am the Alpha and the Omega,^(B) the beginning and the end.^(C) I will freely give to the thirsty^(D) from the spring of the water of life.^(E)

¹⁷ Both the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let anyone who hears, say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who desires take the water of life freely.^(A)
