38 As the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from deep within the person who believes in me.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were going to receive. For the Holy[a] Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
40 After hearing his words, some of the people said, “This is truly the Prophet.”

38 Whoever believes(A) in me, as Scripture has said,(B) rivers of living water(C) will flow from within them.”[a](D) 39 By this he meant the Spirit,(E) whom those who believed in him were later to receive.(F) Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.(G)
40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”(H)
