41 Others were saying, “This man is the Christ!” But others were saying, “No, for the Christ does not come from Galilee, does he?[a] 42 Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” 43 So there was a division in the crowd because of him.

41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.”
Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?(A) 42 Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants(B) and from Bethlehem,(C) the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided(D) because of Jesus.
