5 Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned. What therefore do you say?
6 And they said this to bait him, to have something to accuse him of.
Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. 7 And while they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, Let him who is without sin among you, cast the first stone at her.

5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women.(A) Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap,(B) in order to have a basis for accusing him.(C)
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone(D) at her.”(E)
