Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was [a]blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”

Some said, “This is he.” Others said, [b]“He is like him.”

He said, “I am he.

10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

11 He answered and said, (A)“A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to [c]the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?”

He said, “I do not know.”

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”(A) Some claimed that he was.

Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”

But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”

10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.

11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”(B)

12 “Where is this man?” they asked him.

“I don’t know,” he said.
