10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and (A)the world did not know Him. 11 (B)He came to His [a]own, and His [b]own did not receive Him. 12 But (C)as many as received Him, to them He gave the [c]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 (D)who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

10 But although he made the world, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. 11-12 Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them.[a] 13 All those who believe this are reborn!—not a physical rebirth[b] resulting from human passion or plan—but from the will of God.
