John 17:20-26

²⁰“I do not ^(A)ask for these only, but also for those ^(B)who will believe in me through their word, ²¹^(C)that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that ^(D)they also may be in ^(E)us, so that the world ^(F)may believe that you have sent me. ²²^(G)The glory that you have given me ^(H)I have given to them, ^(I)that they may be one even as we are one, ²³^(J)I in them and you in me, ^(K)that they may become perfectly one, ^(L)so that the world may know that you sent me and ^(M)loved them even as ^(N)you loved me. ²⁴Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be ^(O)with me ^(P)where I am, ^(Q)to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me ^(R)before the foundation of the world. ²⁵^(S)O righteous Father, even though ^(T)the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. ²⁶^(U)I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love ^(V)with which you have loved me may be in them, and ^(W)I in them.”

Job 33:12-33

¹²“Behold, in this you are not right. I will answer you,
    for God is greater than man.
¹³Why do you ^(A)contend against him,
    saying, ‘He ^(B)will answer none of man's^[a] words’?^[b]
¹⁴For God ^(C)speaks in one way,
    ^(D)and in two, though man ^(E)does not perceive it.
¹⁵In ^(F)a dream, in ^(G)a vision of ^(H)the night,
    when ^(I)deep sleep falls on men,
    while they slumber on their beds,
¹⁶then he ^(J)opens the ears of men
    and terrifies^[c] them with warnings,
¹⁷that he may turn man aside from his ^(K)deed
    and conceal pride from a man;
¹⁸he keeps back his soul from the pit,
    his life from ^(L)perishing by the sword.

¹⁹“Man is also rebuked with pain on his bed
    and with continual strife in his ^(M)bones,
²⁰so that his ^(N)life loathes bread,
    and his appetite ^(O)the choicest food.
²¹His flesh is so wasted away that it cannot be seen,
    and his bones that were not seen ^(P)stick out.
²²His soul draws near ^(Q)the pit,
    and his life to ^(R)those who bring death.
²³If there be for him ^(S)an angel,
    ^(T)a mediator, ^(U)one of the thousand,
    to declare to man what is ^(V)right for him,
²⁴and he is merciful to him, and says,
    ‘Deliver him from going down into the pit;
    I have found ^(W)a ransom;
²⁵let his flesh ^(X)become fresh with youth;
    let him return to the days of his youthful vigor’;
²⁶then man^[d] ^(Y)prays to God, and he accepts him;
    he ^(Z)sees his face with a shout of joy,
and he ^(AA)restores to man his righteousness.
²⁷    He sings before men and says:
‘I ^(AB)sinned and perverted what was right,
    and it was not repaid to me.
²⁸He has redeemed my ^(AC)soul from going down ^(AD)into the pit,
    and my life shall ^(AE)look upon the light.’

²⁹“Behold, God does all these things,
    twice, ^(AF)three times, with a man,
³⁰to bring back his soul from the pit,
    that he may be lighted with ^(AG)the light of life.
³¹Pay attention, O Job, listen to me;
    be silent, and I will speak.
³²If you have any words, ^(AH)answer me;
    ^(AI)speak, for I desire to justify you.
³³If not, ^(AJ)listen to me;
    be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”
