⁵³ So Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man^(A) and drink his blood,^(B) you do not have life in yourselves.

²⁵ The one who loves his life will lose it,^(A) and the one who hates^(B) his life^(C) in this world will keep it for eternal life.

⁴⁸ When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and honored the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life.^(A)
