²⁰ For ^(A)the Father loves the Son, and ^(B)shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. ²¹ For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, ^(C)even so the Son gives life to whom He will. ²² For the Father judges no one, but ^(D)has committed all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. ^(E)He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Life and Judgment Are Through the Son

²⁴ “Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(F)he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, ^(G)but has passed from death into life. ²⁵ Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when ^(H)the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For ^(I)as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have ^(J)life in Himself, ²⁷ and ^(K)has given Him authority to execute judgment also, ^(L)because He is the Son of Man. ²⁸ Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will ^(M)hear His voice ^29 (N)and come forth—^(O)those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. ^30 (P)I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because ^(Q)I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

Jesus and the Religious Leaders

³² The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. ³³ Then Jesus said ^[a]to them, ^(A)“I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I ^(B)go to Him who sent Me. ³⁴ You ^(C)will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you ^(D)cannot come.”

Jesus Defends His Self-Witness

¹³ The Pharisees therefore said to Him, ^(A)“You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not ^[a]true.”

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but ^(B)you do not know where I come from and where I am going. ^15 (C)You judge according to the flesh; ^(D)I judge no one. ¹⁶ And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for ^(E)I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. ^17 (F)It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. ¹⁸ I am One who bears witness of Myself, and ^(G)the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.”

¹⁹ Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?”

Jesus answered, ^(H)“You know neither Me nor My Father. ^(I)If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”

²⁰ These words Jesus spoke in ^(J)the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and ^(K)no one laid hands on Him, for ^(L)His hour had not yet come.

Jesus Predicts His Departure

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and ^(M)you will seek Me, and ^(N)will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.”

Jesus the True Shepherd

10 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. ² But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. ³ To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by ^(A)name and leads them out. ⁴ And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. ⁵ Yet they will by no means follow a ^(B)stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” ⁶ Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.

Jesus the Good Shepherd

⁷ Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. ⁸ All who ever came ^[a]before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. ^9 (C)I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. ¹⁰ The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

^11 (D)“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. ¹² But a ^[b]hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and ^(E)leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. ¹³ The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. ¹⁴ I am the good shepherd; and ^(F)I know My sheep, and ^(G)am known by My own. ^15 (H)As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; ^(I)and I lay down My life for the sheep. ¹⁶ And ^(J)other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; ^(K)and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

¹⁷ “Therefore My Father ^(L)loves Me, ^(M)because I lay down My life that I may take it again. ¹⁸ No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I ^(N)have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. ^(O)This command I have received from My Father.”

¹⁹ Therefore ^(P)there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. ²⁰ And many of them said, ^(Q)“He has a demon and is ^[c]mad. Why do you listen to Him?”

²¹ Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. ^(R)Can a demon ^(S)open the eyes of the blind?”

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

³⁶ Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?”

Jesus answered him, “Where I ^(A)am going you cannot follow Me now, but ^(B)you shall follow Me afterward.”

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

14 “Let ^(A)not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. ² In My Father’s house are many ^[a]mansions; if it were not so, ^[b]I would have told you. ^(B)I go to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, ^(C)I will come again and receive you to Myself; that ^(D)where I am, there you may be also. ⁴ And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

^5 (E)Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

⁶ Jesus said to him, “I am ^(F)the way, ^(G)the truth, and ^(H)the life. ^(I)No one comes to the Father ^(J)except through Me.

The Great White Throne Judgment

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face ^(A)the earth and the heaven fled away. ^(B)And there was found no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, ^(C)small and great, standing before ^[a]God, ^(D)and books were opened. And another ^(E)book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged ^(F)according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. ¹³ The sea gave up the dead who were in it, ^(G)and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. ^(H)And they were judged, each one according to his works. ¹⁴ Then ^(I)Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. ^(J)This is the second ^[b]death. ¹⁵ And anyone not found written in the Book of Life ^(K)was cast into the lake of fire.

¹¹ For no other foundation can anyone lay than ^(A)that which is laid, ^(B)which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, ¹³ each one’s work will become clear; for the Day ^(C)will declare it, because ^(D)it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. ¹⁵ If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

The Judgment Seat of Christ

⁹ Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. ^10 (A)For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, ^(B)that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
