2 that [a]he (A)feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty. 3 Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent word (B)to Hoham king of Hebron and to Piram king of Jarmuth and to Japhia king of Lachish and to Debir king of Eglon, saying, 4 “Come up to me and help me, and let us [b]attack Gibeon, for it has (C)made peace with Joshua and with the sons of Israel.”

2 He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters. 3 So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron,(A) Piram king of Jarmuth,(B) Japhia king of Lachish(C) and Debir(D) king of Eglon.(E) 4 “Come up and help me attack Gibeon,” he said, “because it has made peace(F) with Joshua and the Israelites.”
