Joshua 10:26-28
Holman Christian Standard Bible
26 After this, Joshua struck them down and executed them. He hung[a] their bodies on five trees[b] and they were there until evening.(A) 27 At sunset Joshua commanded that they be taken down from the trees[c](B) and thrown into the cave where they had hidden. Then large stones were placed against the mouth of the cave, and the stones are there to this day.(C)
Conquest of Southern Cities
28 On that day Joshua captured Makkedah and struck it down with the sword, including its king. He completely destroyed it[d] and everyone in it, leaving no survivors. So he treated the king of Makkedah as he had the king of Jericho.(D)

New International Version
26 Then Joshua put the kings to death and exposed their bodies on five poles, and they were left hanging on the poles until evening.
27 At sunset(A) Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the poles and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. At the mouth of the cave they placed large rocks, which are there to this day.(B)
Southern Cities Conquered
28 That day Joshua took Makkedah. He put the city and its king to the sword and totally destroyed everyone in it. He left no survivors.(C) And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.(D)
