Then came Joshua and all the men of war with him, against them, by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.

And the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel: and they smote them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto [a]Misrephoth, and unto the valley of Mizpah Eastward, and smote them until they had none remaining of them.

And Joshua did unto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

So Joshua and his whole army came against them suddenly at the Waters of Merom and attacked them, and the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel. They defeated them and pursued them all the way to Greater Sidon,(A) to Misrephoth Maim,(B) and to the Valley of Mizpah on the east, until no survivors were left. Joshua did to them as the Lord had directed: He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots.
