So ·these were the lands given to [this was the inheritance of] the ·family groups [clans] in the tribe of Simeon. The land of the Simeonites was taken from part of the land of Judah. Since Judah had much more land than they needed, the Simeonites received ·part of their land [L their inheritance in the midst of Judah’s inheritance].

This was the inheritance of the tribe of the Simeonites, according to its clans. The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah,(D) because Judah’s portion was more than they needed. So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah.(E)
