The Commander of the Lord's Army

¹³ When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, ^(A)a man was standing before him ^(B)with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”

²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man ^(A)Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, ^(B)came to me in swift flight at ^(C)the time of the evening sacrifice.

^5 (A)I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, ^(B)a man clothed in linen, ^(C)with a belt of fine ^(D)gold from Uphaz around his waist.

⁶ And someone said to ^(A)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream,^{[a] (B)}“How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” ⁷ And I heard ^(C)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; ^(D)he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and ^(E)swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a ^(F)time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of ^(G)the power of ^(H)the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished.

⁸ “I saw in the night, and behold, ^(A)a man riding on a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen, and behind him were ^(B)red, sorrel, and white horses. ⁹ Then I said, ‘What are these, my lord?’ ^(C)The angel who talked with me said to me, ‘I will show you what they are.’ ¹⁰ So ^(D)the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered, ^(E)‘These are they whom the Lord has sent to ^(F)patrol the earth.’ ¹¹ And they answered ^(G)the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, ^(H)‘We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth ^(I)remains at rest.’
