⁴ And he commanded them, saying: “Behold, ^(A)you shall lie in ambush against the city, behind the city. Do not go very far from the city, but all of you be ready.

¹² So he took about five thousand men and set them in ambush between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of ^[a]the city.

⁴³ So he took his people, divided them into three companies, and lay in wait in the field. And he looked, and there were the people, coming out of the city; and he rose against them and ^[a]attacked them.

²⁹ Then Israel ^(A)set men in ambush all around Gibeah.
