GOD’S WORD Translation
24 The spies saw a man coming out of the city. They told him, “Show us how we can get into the city, and we’ll treat you kindly.” 25 He showed them. So they got into the city and killed everyone there. But they let that man and his whole family go free. 26 The man went to the land of the Hittites. There he built a city and called it Luz. The city still has that name today.

24 the spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him, “Show us how to get into the city and we will see that you are treated well.(A)” 25 So he showed them, and they put the city to the sword but spared(B) the man and his whole family. 26 He then went to the land of the Hittites,(C) where he built a city and called it Luz,(D) which is its name to this day.
