The Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and he ripped the lion[a] apart as one might dissect a young goat, even though he carried nothing in his hand. But he didn’t tell his father and mother what he had done. Then he went down and talked to the woman, and she looked fine to Samson. When he came back later to marry[b] her, he turned aside to observe the lion’s carcass. Amazingly, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, complete with honey.

The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him(A) so that he tore the lion apart(B) with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done. Then he went down and talked with the woman, and he liked her.

Some time later, when he went back to marry her, he turned aside to look at the lion’s carcass, and in it he saw a swarm of bees and some honey.
