Judges 18:19-21
New English Translation
19 They said to him, “Shut up! Put your hand over your mouth and come with us! You can be our adviser[a] and priest. Wouldn’t it be better to be a priest for a whole Israelite tribe than for just one man’s family?”[b] 20 The priest was happy. He took the ephod, the personal idols, and the carved image and joined the group.[c]
21 They turned and went on their way, but they walked behind the children, the cattle, and their possessions.[d]

19 They answered him, “Be quiet!(A) Don’t say a word. Come with us, and be our father and priest.(B) Isn’t it better that you serve a tribe and clan(C) in Israel as priest rather than just one man’s household?” 20 The priest was very pleased. He took the ephod, the household gods and the idol and went along with the people. 21 Putting their little children, their livestock and their possessions in front of them, they turned away and left.
