3 Then the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: (for he had nine hundred chariots of iron, and twenty years he had vexed the children of Israel very sore.)
4 ¶ And at that time Deborah a Prophetess the wife of Lapidoth [a]judged Israel.
5 And this Deborah dwelt under a palm tree, between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim, and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

New International Version
3 Because he had nine hundred chariots fitted with iron(A) and had cruelly oppressed(B) the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the Lord for help.
4 Now Deborah,(C) a prophet,(D) the wife of Lappidoth, was leading[a] Israel at that time. 5 She held court(E) under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah(F) and Bethel(G) in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided.
