14 Thy prophets saw to thee false things, and fond; and they opened not thy wickedness, that they should stir thee to penance; but they saw to thee false takings, and castings out. 16 All thine enemies opened their mouth on thee; they hissed, and gnashed with their teeth, and said, We shall devour; lo! this is the day which we abided, we found, we saw. (All thy enemies opened their mouths against thee; they hissed, and gnashed with their teeth, and said, We shall devour thee; lo! this is the day which we have waited for; now it hath arrived, and we have seen it happen!)

15 All who pass your way
    clap their hands at you;(D)

    at Daughter Jerusalem:(G)
“Is this the city that was called
    the perfection of beauty,(H)
    the joy of the whole earth?”(I)

16 All your enemies open their mouths
    wide against you;(J)
they scoff and gnash their teeth(K)
    and say, “We have swallowed her up.(L)
This is the day we have waited for;
    we have lived to see it.”(M)
