29 “This shall be a statute forever for you: (A)In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall [a]afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who [b]dwells among you. 30 For on that day the priest shall make [c]atonement for you, to (B)cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the Lord. 31 (C)It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.

29 “This is to be a lasting ordinance(A) for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month(B) you must deny yourselves[a](C) and not do any work(D)—whether native-born(E) or a foreigner residing among you— 30 because on this day atonement will be made(F) for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the Lord, you will be clean from all your sins.(G) 31 It is a day of sabbath rest, and you must deny yourselves;(H) it is a lasting ordinance.(I)
