²⁴ ‘So do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these ^(A)the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. ²⁵ So the land has become defiled, ^(B)and I have brought its ^[a]punishment upon it. And the land ^(C)has vomited out its inhabitants. ²⁶ But as for you, you shall keep My statutes and My judgments and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native nor the sojourner who sojourns among you ²⁷ (for the men of the land who have been before you have done all these abominations, and the land has become defiled); ²⁸ so that the land will not vomit you out, should you defile it, as it has vomited out the nation which has been before you. ²⁹ For whoever does any of these abominations, ^[b]those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people.

²⁶ I ^(A)call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will ^(B)surely perish quickly from the land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it. You shall not prolong your days on it, but will be utterly destroyed.

^23 (A)until Yahweh caused Israel to depart from His presence, ^(B)as He spoke through all His slaves the prophets. ^(C)So Israel went into exile from their own land to Assyria until this day.
