²⁷“‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.^(A)

²⁷Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

⁵Gaza will shave^(A) her head in mourning;
Ashkelon^(B) will be silenced.
You remnant on the plain,
how long will you cut^(C) yourselves?

⁵Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?

³⁷Every head is shaved^(A)
and every beard^(B) cut off;
every hand is slashed
and every waist is covered with sackcloth.^(C)

³⁷For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
