⁹ “‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges^(A) of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.^(B)

¹⁰ Do not go over your vineyard a second time^(A) or pick up the grapes that have fallen.^(B) Leave them for the poor and the foreigner.^(C) I am the Lord your God.

¹⁹ When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it.^(A) Leave it for the foreigner,^(B) the fatherless and the widow,^(C) so that the Lord your God may bless^(D) you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time.^(E) Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. ²¹ When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. ²² Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this.^(F)

² And Ruth the Moabite^(A) said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain^(B) behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.^(C)”

Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.”

¹⁵ As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves^(A) and don’t reprimand her.
