2 except for his direct relative closest to him: his mother and his father, and his son and his daughter, and his brother, 3 and for his sister, a virgin, who is closest to him, who has not had a husband[a]—for her he may defile himself. 4 He must not make himself unclean as a kinsman by marriage,[b] defiling himself.

2 except for a close relative, such as his mother or father,(A) his son or daughter, his brother, 3 or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband—for her he may make himself unclean.(B) 4 He must not make himself unclean for people related to him by marriage,[a] and so defile himself.
