⁴⁰ On the first day you are to take the product^(A) of majestic trees—palm fronds,^(B) boughs of leafy trees,^(C) and willows of the brook^(D)—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.

¹² You will rejoice^(A) before the Lord your God—you, your sons and daughters, your male and female slaves, and the Levite who is within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.^(B)

²⁶ You may spend the money on anything you want: cattle, sheep, wine, beer, or anything you desire. You are to feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice with your family.

¹¹ You, the Levite, and the foreign resident among you will rejoice^(A) in all the good things the Lord your God has given you and your household.
