40 On the first day you shall select for yourselves fruit from splendid trees, branches of palm trees, boughs from leafy trees, and willows from by the stream—and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 Celebrate the festival for the Lord as a pilgrim for seven days each year. This is a permanent regulation throughout your generations. In the seventh month you shall celebrate the festival as a pilgrim. 42 You shall live in temporary shelters for seven days—every native-born person in Israel shall live in shelters—

New International Version
40 On the first day you are to take branches(A) from luxuriant trees—from palms, willows and other leafy trees(B)—and rejoice(C) before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 Live in temporary shelters(D) for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters
