¹⁸Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution^(A)—life for life.

¹⁸And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.

²¹And whoever kills an animal shall restore it; but whoever kills a man shall be put to death.

²¹Whoever kills an animal must make restitution,^(A) but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death.^(B)
