² The Lord said to Moses, “Tell your brother Aaron that he may not come whenever he wants into the holy place^(A) behind the curtain^(B) in front of the mercy seat^(C) on the ark or else he will die, because I appear in the cloud^(D) above the mercy seat.^(E)

Guidance by the Cloud

¹⁵ On the day the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony,^(A) and it appeared like fire above the tabernacle from evening until morning.

¹⁰ When the priests came out of the holy place, the cloud filled the Lord’s temple,^{(A) 11} and because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory^(B) of the Lord filled the temple.

¹³ The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and thank the Lord with one voice. They raised their voices, accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments,^(A) in praise to the Lord:

The temple, the Lord’s temple, was filled with a cloud.^{(C) 14} And because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of the Lord filled God’s temple.^(D)

² The priests were not able to enter the Lord’s temple because the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the Lord.

⁴ The foundations of the doorways shook^(A) at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke.

⁷ I will shake all the nations so that the treasures of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,”^(A) says the Lord of Armies.

⁹ “The final glory of this house^[a] will be greater than the first,”^(A) says the Lord of Armies. “I will provide peace in this place”^(B)—this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.

⁸ Then the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power,^(A) and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
