²¹ “You are not to make any of your children pass through the fire to Molech.^(A) Do not profane the name^(B) of your God; I am Yahweh.

³¹ You must not do the same to the Lord your God, because they practice every detestable thing, which the Lord hates, for their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

¹⁷ They made their sons and daughters pass through the fire^(A) and practiced divination and interpreted omens.^(B) They devoted themselves to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight and provoked Him.^(C)

³¹ the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire^(A) to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of the Sepharvaim.

³ He burned incense in the Valley of Hinnom^(A) and burned his children in^[a](B) the fire, imitating the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites.^(C)

⁵ They have built high places to Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, something I have never commanded or mentioned; I never entertained the thought.^[a](A)

²¹ You slaughtered My children and gave them up when you passed them through the fire^(A) to the images.

³¹ When you offer your gifts, making your children pass through the fire,^(A) you continue to defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. So should I be consulted by you, house of Israel? As I live”—this is the declaration of the Lord God—“I will not be consulted by you!

²⁵ When I vent My jealous rage on you,^(A) they will deal with you in wrath. They will cut off your nose and ears, and your descendants will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your descendants will be consumed by fire.

³⁷ For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; they have committed adultery with their idols. They have even made the children they bore to Me pass through the fire as food for the idols.^(A)
