¹⁰ “But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ You will then be honored^(A) in the presence of all the other guests.^(B)

⁴¹ “I do not accept glory^(A) from people,

⁴⁴ How can you believe, since you accept glory from one another but don’t seek the glory that comes from the only^(A) God?^(B)

⁵⁰ I do not seek my own glory; ^(A) there is one who seeks it and judges.

⁵⁴ “If I glorify myself,” Jesus answered, “my glory is nothing. My Father—about whom you say, ‘He is our God’—he is the one who glorifies me.

⁴³ For they loved human praise^(A) more than praise from God.^(B)

⁴ They are Israelites,^(A) and to them belong the adoption,^(B) the glory,^(C) the covenants,^(D) the giving of the law,^(E) the temple service,^(F) and the promises.^(G)
