24 And Pilate decided[a] that their request should be done. 25 And he released the one having been thrown into prison because of rebellion and murder, whom they were asking-for. And he handed-over Jesus to their will.

26 And when they led Him away, having taken-hold-of a certain Simon, a Cyrenian[b] coming from the country, they laid the cross on him to carry behind Jesus.

New International Version
24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.

26 As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene,(B) who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.(C)

25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
