3 He journeyed throughout the entire region of the Jordan valley, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, 4 as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
5 Every valley shall be filled in,
and every mountain and hill shall be leveled;
the winding roads shall be straightened
and the rough paths made smooth,

3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.(A) 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:

The crooked roads shall become straight,
