Luke 7:26-28

²⁶So what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, John is a prophet. But I tell you, he is more than that. ²⁷This Scripture was written about him:

‘Listen! I will send my messenger ahead of you.
He will prepare the way for you.’ ^(A)

²⁸I tell you, no one ever born is greater than John. But even the least important person in God’s kingdom is greater than John.”

²⁶But what did you go out to see? A prophet?^(A) Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. ²⁷This is the one about whom it is written:

“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.’^[a]^(B)

²⁸I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God^(C) is greater than he.”
