51 And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to go in with him except Peter, James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52 Everybody wept and sorrowed for her. And he said, Weep not, for she is not dead, but sleeping. 53 And they laughed him to scorn, because they knew that she was dead.

51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James,(A) and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning(B) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”(C)
53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.
