9 Jesus called together the Twelve, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. ²He sent them out to announce God’s kingdom and cure the sick.

³“Don’t take anything for the journey,” he said to them, “no stick, no bag, no bread, no money, no second cloak.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve^(A)^(B)

9 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons^(C) and to cure diseases,^(D) ²and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God^(E) and to heal the sick. ³He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.^(F)
