25 (A)For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? 26 For (B)whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed (C)when he comes in (D)his glory and the glory of the Father and of (E)the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not (F)taste death (G)until they see the kingdom of God.”

The Transfiguration

28 (H)Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him (I)Peter and John and James and (J)went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was (K)altered, and (L)his clothing became dazzling white. 30 And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,[a] which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him (M)were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake (N)they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three (O)tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—(P)not knowing what he said. 34 As he was saying these things, (Q)a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 And (R)a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, (S)my Chosen One;[b] (T)listen to him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. (U)And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them(A) when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.(B)

The Transfiguration(C)

28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James(D) with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.(E) 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. 31 They spoke about his departure,[a](F) which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy,(G) but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master,(H) it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen;(I) listen to him.”(J) 36 When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at that time what they had seen.(K)
